AMS Migrate to ISO 45001

AMS Nuclear Engineering (AMS) are pleased to announce that they have successfully achieved the transition to ISO 45001:2018, the world’s first global health and safety management system.

ISO 45001 replaces the previous British Standard OHSAS 18001 and AMS has worked hard to gain certification to the new standard demonstrating commitment to the health and safety of their employees and clients.

ISO 45001:2018 is an International Standard that specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, to enable organisations to proactively improve their safety performance, preventing accidents, injury, and ill health.

The road to certification requires time and commitment and AMS began their internal preparations for certification and transition in January 2020, by evaluating their existing procedures and aligning them with the new requirements. The AMS documentation and procedures were already well established and compliant with the current British Standards, and therefore had a good foundation to work from. The ISO 45001 standard follows the same clause structure as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and it has therefore been incorporated into the AMS Quality Manual to create a cohesive, Integrated Management System.

In February 2021, the British Assessment Bureau performed the mandatory transition audit and AMS were subsequently notified of their successful transition to ISO 45001 from OHSAS 18001.

“Achieving ISO 45001 is an important step in demonstrating our corporate responsibility and our commitment to the health and safety of our workers”
