AMS Nuclear Engineering Ltd has secured a further extension to its Framework Agreement with EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Ltd, marking more than a decade of continuous partnership. The renewal underscores AMS Nuclear’s track record in delivering safety-critical Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) systems across the UK nuclear fleet.

EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Ltd operates the UK’s fleet of Advanced Gas-Cooled Reactor (AGR) and Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) power stations, supplying low-carbon electricity to millions of homes and businesses. The extended agreement enables AMS Nuclear to continue supporting the safe and reliable operation of these stations as they progress through different stages of their operational lives.

25+ Years of Nuclear EC&I Expertise

AMS Nuclear has delivered nuclear safety-significant EC&I systems to EDF for more than 25 years. Operating from modern facilities in Bridgwater, Somerset, the company’s teams of SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel) engineers and technicians provide expertise across the complete project lifecycle – from feasibility and optioneering through detailed design, design substantiation, build, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), installation and commissioning.

Supporting the UK Nuclear Fleet

The Framework Agreement structure provides flexibility to respond to evolving station requirements. Some stations continue to generate in their latter operational years, others are preparing for defueling, while stations like Sizewell B have many years of operation ahead. This diversity requires adaptable engineering solutions backed by deep technical knowledge and an unwavering commitment to safety.

EDF has been an important customer to AMS Nuclear for many years. We are delighted to have the opportunity to continue supporting them in delivering safe, reliable and efficient nuclear power. This extension reflects the strength of our relationship, the capability of our engineering teams, and our commitment to delivering high-quality EC&I systems that meet the highest safety and regulatory standards.

Supporting UK Energy Security

The extended Framework Agreement ensures continuity of expertise as EDF’s stations navigate long-term operation, life extension programmes and decommissioning planning. For AMS Nuclear, it provides a platform for continued investment in facilities, workforce development and technical capabilities.

AMS Nuclear’s work with EDF complements the company’s involvement in the UK’s nuclear new build programme, including work at Hinkley Point C and membership of the Sizewell C Consortium. This positions AMS Nuclear across the full spectrum of the UK nuclear industry – from supporting the operational fleet through to new nuclear power projects.

The partnership extension reinforces AMS Nuclear’s role as a dependable supplier of specialist EC&I engineering services to the UK nuclear sector, supporting the safe and efficient operation of vital national infrastructure.
