Measuring Gas Cabinets

AMS Nuclear have successfully delivered a full suite of Measuring Gas Cabinets to Hinkley Point C, which will be used to monitor the performance of the recombiner in the primary coolant circuit.

The Requirement: Meeting Exacting Demands

Robust gas measurement systems were required to meet stringent nuclear safety, compliance, environmental and operational demands. AMS Nuclear was engaged to design, build, test and deliver six Nuclear Safety Classified, ATEX Zone 2 cabinets, housing Hydrogen and Oxygen analysers, with leak detection, alarms and automatic shutdown safeguards, in order to satisfy these requirements.

This milestone is a real credit to the AMS Nuclear team. Delivering nuclear safety-classified, ATEX-rated systems into a project like Hinkley Point C demands SQEP capability, disciplined quality processes, and effective working with the client’s design authority. Our team has demonstrated that capability end-to-end, from design and qualification through to manufacture and delivery.

Project Lifecycle: What’s Next?

The next stage of this critical project is to deliver a series of Flow Proportional Samplers; Key Environmental Protection Equipment (KEPE), designed and built for monitoring and sampling final effluent discharges, to ensure compliance with Hinkley Point C’s Radioactive Substances Regulation (RSR) Permit.
