The existing control system for PM2 at St Cuthbert’s Mill comprised an ABB Advant AC450 controller with 3 operator stations that were no longer supportable. This ageing control system needed to be replaced by a modern PLC/SCADA system, which could be supported both internally by St Cuthberts’ own personnel and by external systems integrators for more complex issues. The system proposed by AMS comprised a Rockwell Automation CompactLogix modular PLC system with a GE Proficy iFIX SCADA system providing the operator interface.
