EDF Energy conducted a Sizewell B Polar Crane Mid Life Ageing and Obsolescence study. This study concluded that many components were obsolete. EDF Energy prioritised these obsolete components and raised a contract for AMS to produce an optioneering report. This report needed to specify component qualification requirements, recommend modern component equivalents and substantiate the use of these components on a technical basis.
