AMS Supports BGEN and Arabelle Solutions in Delivering Key Nuclear Energy Infrastructure
AMS Nuclear Engineering Ltd is delighted to announce a significant project win, contributing to the delivery of critical electrical and instrumentation systems at the Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear power station in Somerset. This multi-million-pound contract is AMS’ second major engagement on the HPC project, solidifying its role as a key supplier to one of the UK’s most transformative energy initiatives.
Earlier this year, BGEN secured an £84 million contract with Arabelle Solutions to provide electrical and instrumentation packages for the Unit 1 and Unit 2 Turbine Halls at HPC. These turbine halls will house two of the world’s largest Arabelle steam turbines, each capable of generating 1.6 GW of electricity. These turbines are at the core of the plant’s power generation system, ensuring a reliable supply of low-carbon energy to six million homes for decades.
A Collaborative Approach to Innovation
AMS’ scope of work involves the pre-fabrication of instrument frames and canopies, leveraging its expertise in nuclear-grade C&I systems build. What sets this project apart is the proximity of AMS’ facilities to BGEN’s new site, enabling seamless collaboration. AMS will handle the intricate tube bending, fitting, and pressure testing, while BGEN will perform the tube welding. This close working relationship optimises efficiency, reduces logistical challenges, and ensures the highest quality standards are met.
A Bright Future for AMS and HPC
As construction progresses at HPC, AMS continues to showcase the importance of collaboration, innovation, and local expertise. By delivering world-class solutions in partnership with BGEN and Arabelle, AMS is helping to pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for the UK.
